| First moments with my girl <3 You can totally tell I've been up for 30 hr + ;) |
So this is how it all went down (sorry if I ramble...) :
I woke up around 12:30 am on Tuesday morning (Oct. 8th) with contractions that were definitely more intense then the Braxton hicks ones that I had been experiencing, so I began timing them. Sure enough they were pretty regular, at about 30 min apart. I just laid in bed the rest of the night and around the time that Tyler was supposed to be getting up for work I told him that maybe he should just stay home with me because I could just tell that this was it and who knows how fast things would end up going. So I continued to have contractions throughout the whole day and probably drove myself crazy as I tried to keep track of them. They got closer together as the day went on but never to the point where they were 5 min apart for an hour, which is when they say to head in to the hospital. Tyler and I kept busy around the house cleaning up and getting some last minute things done. I don't think Tyler sat down once that whole day. He was on hyperactive mode! It cracked me up. :)
So as the evening came and the contractions got to about 10 min apart and were intensifying, I gave in and called the midwife around 8 pm. She said to definitely come in since there was some progression happening. Tyler and I were both super excited/nervous! We grabbed our packed bags and were on our way! Once we arrived the midwife checked me and I was about 4 centimeters. Before I got admitted Tyler and I decided that we would take a walk around the hospital to get things to progress even further. So after our many laps of the Labor and delivery ward we went back and got admitted. It was baby time! This was around 10pm...I was getting tired but things were just getting started.
My mom and dad arrived and as Tyler caught up on some zzz's my mom stayed awake with me as I labored over night through some very intense contractions. I really should have gotten the epidural a lot sooner then I did, but because of my fear of needles I delayed it for as long as I could, 30 hours to be exact, ouch. The epidural ended up not being that bad at all, and if we have another baby I will definitely be getting it a lot sooner! It was the sweetest relief!
Once I got the epidural, I got my water broken and about 6ish hours later it was time to start pushing! I had an awesome epidural done because I seriously could not feel a thing. I just pushed as best as I could and Tyler was so encouraging and supportive. 20 min later our precious baby girl was born!!! :) After about 38 hours of laboring I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful moment. <3 I love her to the moon and back and could not thank God enough for the greatest gift EVER!
Psalm 127:3-5
Behold, children are a gift of the LORD; The fruit of the womb is a reward.
