| 18 weeks :) |
Size: Baby is about the size of a large bell pepper. About 5 1/2 inches and weighs about 7 ounces. The ears are just about in their final position. If it's a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are now formed and in place. If it's a boy, the genitals are noticeable now but he may try and hide them during the ultrasound. This is the kind of information that I'm sure my child will be so glad that I shared with you all. ;)
Total weight gain/loss: The numbers on the scale have stayed pretty steady this week but It was a crazy busy week so I am not surprised! I didn't have time to really eat like I have been lately, so I'm sure this next week I will see some more weight gain.
Maternity clothes: The hair tie trick with some of my pre-pregnancy pants is coming to an end. For example, I tried to wear some higher rise pants the other day and I got them on with the hair tie but i couldn't zip them up at all and they were pretty tight. So I guess it is time to pack those away for the time being. lol
Gender: 2 more weeks!!!! At this point I have no idea what we are going to have, based on on the wives tales and such. I will be surprised and thrilled either way. But I guess in the very back of my mind I have a feeling its a girl. I guess we will see in two weeks!
Movement: If I am sitting still, I can definitely feel baby moving which is such a cool feeling! It's less popcorn popping now and more butterflies fluttering. :)
Sleep: Sleep has been very good. This was a very long week at work so being tired coming home definitely helped me get some good sleep. There was one night last week, though, where I was having lots of pain in the right side of my lower back/side. It woke me up every two hours or so throughout the night but it went away the next day and I have been fine since. I had done a lot of running around with the girls that day at work so I think I just over did things, and it was my body's way of letting me know to take things slow.
Cravings: Mac and cheese, Greek yogurt with Chocolate chips, ice cream
Symptoms: I get the occasional back ache, I get tired faster, I am super emotional, and I have been nervous/anxious here and there. I feel like now that I feel more human, compared to the constant tiredness and nausea that the first trimester brings, I now have more room to think about things such as the labor process and being a new parent and its scary sometimes to think about. I have read that this is completely normal for mommies to be, especially if they are first timers. Knowing that I am not alone in these feelings and talking it through with Tyler really helps me calm down. He has really done such a wonderful job at helping me get through all my worries and I couldn't feel more blessed to have such a wonderful husband. <3
Baby Names: The process of picking out a baby's name is quite a challenging one. I don't know why I thought it was going to be so simple. lol There are SO MANY names out there to choose from, which makes it hard. On top of the fact the finding a name to go with Shifflett isn't an easy task either. :) Our child will have a name eventually, just not sure when haha It will be easier once we know the gender!
Best moment this week: Since I worked a lot this week, I got to spend a lot of time with the girls I nanny for. One is 4 and the other is just about 17 months. I love these girls so much and they make me so excited about becoming a mommy! I will have been working with this awesome family for 3 years in May and I could not have asked for a better/funner job! It will be such a bittersweet moment when I will have to pass on the "nanny torch," but these girls will forever have a place in my heart. I may have taught them many things over the last few years but I feel that they have taught me even more. :)

Romo the Giraffe: Baby's first stuffed animal, thanks to my mother! I cant get over how adorable this giraffe is. It is so soft and so hug-able, so I have decided that I was going to snuggle with it until baby is born. :) I even found Tyler snuggling with it! haha

I was not snuggling with the giraffe. Someone must have put it there when I was asleep...
ReplyDeleteWell it wasn't me...soooooo....yeaaaa. You may not have meant to be but you were definitely snuggling :)
